By Alexcia McKinley Staff Writer When you ask an English teacher if they always wanted to have this particular career, most of them will answer “Of course I did. I knew since I was little.” But Ms. Vasellas is a little different in that aspect. She didn’t always want to be an English teacher. If she could have any other job in the world, she would become a music teacher.

By Brittany Butler Staff Writer A white Ford Explorer SUV is parked in front of a beach house. Inside the car, the windows are wiped down, the interior is dusted, leather seats are free of any spills, and the carpet is vacuumed with no stains. It’s a spotless car from the inside to the outside. There is something unique about the person that drives it. In the back seat there is a sign that reads Amenities. There’s water, candy, snacks, gum, mints, tissues, wet wipes, a lint roller, hand sanitizer, Febreze, car sick bags, and acetaminophen. There’s even a tip jar for people that want to tip for great service. School guidance councilor Mrs. Kathy Moser, English teacher Mr. Robert Beatty, and learning support teacher Ms. Lori Strayer are all retiring at the close of the 2016-2017 school year. Each of them has been a valued member of Red Lion's staff and they all leave behind a unique story for the high school to remember them by.

Staff Writer Her room in the business education wing is no stranger to Red Lion students, anyone could recognize the neon letters above the doorway to her classroom, announcing her presence in the hall. And after 25 years of teaching at Red Lion, Mrs. Lori Krouse will be retiring at the end of this school year. She says she used to “play teacher” with peers as a child, but never imagined she would actually be one. A Shippensburg Graduate, Krouse studied undeclared until her business professor pulled her aside after class and told her that with her communication skills and personality, she should consider being a teacher. By Shayla Scallorn and Carly Guise Olivia Anderson & James Warner “We usually make sure we don’t have work on that day and we’ll try to have dinner together and see a movie. we don’t really care too much about Valentine’s day, it’s kind of a waste, but still it’s nice to go spend money sometimes.” - Olivia “It’s kind of an odd holiday and there are plenty of other occasions that require gifts but we usually do something to celebrate anyway.” -James Jena Everett & Xavier Geesey “Our plans are to go see a movie and and then have dinner together. If money was not a factor we would like to take a plane to Paris and first put a lock at the Pont des Art bridge and then have dinner on top of the Eiffel Tower.” -Jena & Xavier Emily Harrington & Dylan Khuc “Overall we think the holiday is kind of pointless, if you love someone you don’t need one specific day to show them, you should do that every day.” - Emily & Dylan Mr. & Mrs Granger “Our tradition for Valentine’s Day is just going to dinner. We don’t like Valentine’s Day, so we don’t buy gifts and we don’t go to a fancy dinner. Just somewhere that we like.” -Mrs. Granger Mr. & Mrs. Dennish “Every year we go out for dinner with my in-laws, my parents, and my brother- and sister-in-law. We all go out to eat together at Boardwalks. They have a Valentine’s Day special dinner that night, so we always do that.” - Mrs. Dennish By Shawn Gunarich Multimedia Editor Technical education teacher Brandon Krone is welcomed into the fold of Red Lion teachers.
