Mrs. Carol Kelkis (Adviser, Journalism Teacher) has been advising Red Lion's High School's newspaper since 2007. A former York Dispatch correspondent and high school newspaper staff writer, Mrs. Kelkis combines years of experience with a genuine love of the news business to facilitate the creation of a multi-platform, student-friendly school publication. She was inspired by ISTE's Philidelphia conference for educators to infuse technology into the school paper, which she views as an authentic learning experience that models news organizations in the "real world". "Seeing the journalism program grow at Red Lion has been the source of true accomplishment for me. I am inspired by the students who work tirelessly at their unique, invaluable roles to produce great source of news and pride for our school. It's synergy at its best." Holding a degree in English Education, and a Master's Degree in Teaching and Curriculum, Mrs. Kelkis plans to continue advising The Leonid and bring the love of news to even more students.
