By Zerick Nease Staff Writer Spring sports are starting up at Red Lion Senior High School, and the Girls Track and Field team is more than ready. They have been practicing all winter for this season and it has arrived. The girls team went 4-2 last year and are looking to use some of that momentum for this season. The team is losing some key roles from last year, including thrower Brianna Wanbaugh and hurdler Glori Keough. But they are looking for people to step up this season. The future looks pretty promising with younger athletes working very hard to fill their roles.
But for those losses, they also have some key returners. One being Madisen Kling, returning state champion discus thrower. Another being Kiersten Lloyd, returning district medalist in the 1600m run. Those are just two of the big time athletes on the team. They also have many solid players in other positions that will help them succeed their season goals. With the season fast approaching Coach Jason Smith had this to say about the outlook of this season, “I think we’ll be very competitive this season. The talent in the league is fairly even this season.” Some of the most important meets this season are against South Western, Spring Grove, and our cross-town rival Dallastown.
