By Shayla Scallorn Social Media Editor A goal for the season to reach counties and districts has been reached by the Red Lion boys soccer team. The team, with a current record of 12-6, continues to push their way through districts. Success was enjoyed from early on as the team won their first four games, and the success only grew from there. “We have achieved this by working hard in practices,” Coach Mike Watt said. “Each player understands their role not the team.”

By Nicole Belcher Staff Writer The weather was cool and sunny, the sun was at its brightest and the scene was set for Red Lion’s Cross Country’s last home meet. Junior Cameron George was head-to-head with an opposing runner when, nearing the end of the race, George sprinted past to cross the finish line. The cross country team is a young team, and the first year for some of the seniors. Jebediah Fregm, a home-schooled senior who started this year was inspired by his friends to run, surprised the coaches with his good times. He ran a 19:01 and came in fourth for the home meet to qualify for counties. By Molly Merson
News and Features Editor Senior Jacob McIntyre has followed his passion for golf for about six years. His practice and perseverance has led him to this year’s county competition. He was the only competitor from Red Lion to place in the tournament for the varsity golf team. With an average score of 82, McIntyre hopes to keep improving his skills. He has already noticed great improvement in his score during his golfing career. By Shawn Gunarich
Multimedia Editor Red Lion girls volleyball make it to state level competition after winning districts in a five set nail-biter against Hempfield. Senior captain Lindsey Blevins expressed what the win was like for her. “It’s such a relieving feeling because we know what we worked for,” Blevins said. “Four years and we can finally say we won. Also I love banners and medals.” Blevins received the set and slammed the win against Suburban on Oct. 25. This would set the team up for three district matches, in which Red Lion would have to win all three if they wished to become 2016’s district 3 champs. |
