By Brianna Lehr and Gabriella Young Business Manager and Staff Writer For junior Madisen Kling, track isn’t just something she enjoys. It runs in her blood, it’s a family tradition. Kling is an all around athlete, turning heads in every sport she plays. Kling has been playing soccer for six years and track for five years. She has earned the starting varsity soccer goalie position since her freshman year and is now a top discus thrower as well. In fact, Kling plans on continuing her track career after high school. She wants to go college and wants to earn a scholarship of some kind, in order to throw discus. In terms of this season, Madisen believes she has had a pretty good season so far. “I’ve had some rough patches or rocky starts but I think that I’ve always managed to push through,” said Kling humbly. Despite rocky starts and rough patches, Kling made an astounding achievement this season. She broke the 28 year old discus record, made by Nan Strawbridge in 1989.

Senior Editor As this softball season comes to a close, some seniors are saying goodbye to the sport they’ve played for years, as the juniors are preparing to step up to the plate. Seniors Brianna Gonzalez, Kayla Moore, Megan Teal, Megan Confer, and Chloe Rentzel are saying goodbye to Red Lion. “My fondest memory would be the bus rides and hanging out with my team, and doing team bonding stuff,” Moore said. “I’ll miss my teammates the most, because they are like my family.” By Shawn Gunarich Multimedia Editor Kiersten and Gwendolyn Lloyd, sisters and best friends from birth, dominate as freshman mid-distance and distance runners. These freshman sisters both have exceeded regular season, both qualifying for the 800 meter in counties among other events. But the Lloyd name is not unknown to Red Lion as the life coach and father to the twin runners Brad Lloyd, a 1984 graduate, also excelled at his choice sport--wrestling. Mr. Lloyd was a three time county and district champion while here at Red Lion. “He’s hard on us,” Gwen Lloyd said “but he only want’s us to succeed and to get better.”
