By Derek Etter Social Media & Marketing Editor The boy’s Red Lion Soccer varsity team started their new season with a drive to make it to championships. After school every day they practice at the Junior High fields until 4:30, honing their techniques and building stamina. Kade Adomanis, Kyle Doyle, Brycen Smith, Nathan Steiner, and junior captain Ethan Stough, the team started off the year with a 2-2 tie with scores from juniors Brody Patmore and Michael Moffit, against Carlisle.
Their drive for championships this year comes from their losses at the end of last year’s season. Placing 111th in the state last year, the team suffered their primary losses at districts and counties. When they reached counties, they tied with Gettysburg 1-1, and also had a tied lose with Elizabethtown 0-0 at districts. “Losing to Elizabethtown felt worse than Gettysburg,” senior captain Nathan Steiner said, “We were pretty close the entire game, and the penalty kicks didn’t help.” However, the team of 18 boys from the sophomore to senior class are determined to utilize their skills to the fullest extent to make it to districts and counties. With graduation they lost some of their senior players, and they are working hard to defeat their opponents with a game every Monday. “Of course, we lost some key players with graduation this year,” said Steiner, “but we still have a solid team, which will be enough to make it.”
