By Carrie Knight Multimedia Editor Each month, the Red Lion-Dallastown Rotary Club chooses two Red Lion juniors as their Students of the Month. For October, Kate Taylor and Alexander Sun were chosen. Kate Taylor “You have to take initiative in everything you do”, said junior Kate Taylor, one of the two October students of the month. Kate is not your average highschool student, she is very involved in various clubs and also does her best to excel in her classes. Kate is a member of Student Council, Color Guard, Mixed Chorus, and also Mock Trial. “I am one part of a larger organization.” said Kate. “You have to work together to make it come together, no matter the club.” In addition to being a member of these four clubs, Kate is also enrolled in two AP courses. One of the two being her favorite class, AP European History. Not only does Kate love history class, she hopes to make it her career. After high school Kate would like to go to college to be a social studies teacher. Kate credits her success to her parents. “They’ve taught me what to do and how to be a good person.” she said. “I try to work towards diligence and integrity.” said Kate. This is her key to success and advice to her fellow peers. Alexander Sun Junior Alexander Sun was chosen as one of the two October students of the month. Alexander is involved in activities in and out of school and also takes advanced courses. Alexander is currently taking two AP courses, two honors courses, and also Spanish. AP Physics is his favorite class of the day. The secret to his success? “I work hard and try my best.” he said. Alexander is also a member of National Honors Society as well as being the secretary of the science fair club. After high school, he hopes to attend and swim for a D1 and Ivy League college. He is still deciding on what he would like to major in, but as of now he is thinking business or computer science. Alexander swims for the York YMCA. “I’ve been swimming for 11 years,” said Alexander. “I swam for Red Lion and then went to the YMCA. In high school I broke three records, and I have also won two IMs (individual melodies) at counties, I qualified for districts, and was also a finalists at states.” He was also third at the YMCA Nationals and is currently working to qualify for Jr. Nationals. His role model is his sister, Jessica Sun (RL 2017). “She has always been a good example to follow academically and athletically,” said Alexander. “She works hard in everything she does making me want to work
