By Sarah Marcules Staff Writer This season of homecoming, many people were wondering what to wear to the occasion. One-shoulder dresses are one of the many things that are “in” this year, along with floral prints and accents. Also, animal prints are big right now. Jewelry can still be subtle, but there are a lot of bold colors and funky shapes to spice up your attire. Although many styles are usually formal, a more casual approach seems to be popular this year as well. The high- low dresses with the short in the front, long in the back skirt have become a big hit for homecoming fashion for the 2013 - 2014 dance. Sophmore Emma Rinehart was sporting this style this year; a strapless black and crimson high-low dress. “I’m not big on dressing up,” Rinehart said, “so I like how casual these dresses look.” Others like Senior Leah Shermeyer, who sported a glittery turquoise dress, saved their cash and wore just appealing trends, but for much less. “Dresses are so expensive nowadays, and it’s such a hassle to go out and get one,” Le Shermeyer said. A cheap dress can be just as great as a newly bought one, so thrifting may be a great idea! Some people like Sophmore Brittany Zeigler, who wore a flowy long turquoise dress with a jeweled top, got their dresses online. “I wanted to get my dress ahead of time to save the hassle of having to go out and get it last minute,” Zeigler said. Long dresses were preferred over shorter dresses this season, and Senior Kaylee Waga was a prime example. When asked about what she was wearing to homecoming, she informed the Leonid, ”I wore a long coral dress with the jeweled look.” One can get their dresses just about anywhere, but the Deb shop at the mall seems to be a hot spot for a lot of people. Along with that, places like JC Penny, Boscovs, and Sears are great places to go to as well. We break down the hottest songs of this year’s “Night in Paris” Homecoming dance which was held October 19.
