By Carrie Knight Multimedia Editor Homecoming is right around the corner. Students have been busy preparing by buying dresses, finding dates, and planning the perfect evening. Festivities will start Sept. 18 and continue throughout this week. The homecoming dance will be on Sept. 23, with tickets on sale Sept. 11-22. As it has been for years, a single ticket is $20 and a double ticket is $30. Student Council is portraying the theme, “A Night in New York” by incorporating some of New York’s finest features, including Central Park and the subways. Council members are ordering and preparing decorations ahead of time to make this a special night for their peers.
“Student Council is extremely enthusiastic to provide the students with one of the most exciting and energetic nights of the school year,” said Student Council president Jacob Franciscus. Klock Entertainment will be returning for their second homecoming at Red Lion and will be helping the students party under the New York lights. From Monday until Friday Red Lion will be celebrating the exciting week with spirit days all fitting this year’s theme. Students can recieve this information through posters and their homeroom teachers. The parade and bonfire will be on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Different clubs and sporting teams from Red Lion will be making a trip around Red Lion to celebrate homecoming. Afterwards, everyone is welcome to come to the Junior High for the fire. The activites continue with the homecoming football game on Sept. 22. Student Council is accepting three canned goods for a free student admission. All the cans collected support Red Lion’s local food bank. Homecoming is a major event for those in high school and always draws a big crowd, making it one of the largest events during the school year.
