Red Lion High School’s homecoming dance is right around the corner: Oct. 15, 2016. This brings about the annual “spirit week” and pre-homecoming festivities.
Throughout the week leading up to the dance, students and staff will be dressing up to participate in spirit days.
Oct. 11: Tacky Tourist Tuesday (Dress like a Tourist)
Oct. 12: “On Wednesdays We Wear Pink”
Oct 13: Throwback Thursday (Dress like the 50’s)
Oct 14: Black and Gold Friday (Show school spirit)
On Thursday, Oct. 13, the school will be hosting the traditional homecoming pep rally, parade, bonfire, and for the first time ever, a homecoming carnival.
The school pep rally Thursday will take place during seventh period in the Fitzkee Center. There will be challenges such as musical chairs, limbo, and tug of war to get everyone excited, in addition to crowning the official Red Lion homecoming queen of 2016.
That night, Junior High PTO is hosting the first homecoming carnival from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on the outdoor basketball courts. There will be stands for the junior high sports teams, as well as plenty of games.
Following the carnival, the annual parade is taking place at 6 p.m. starting on Horace Mann Avenue. Many of the high school’s sports teams and clubs will be participating, showing off their school spirit.
When the parade is over, the homecoming bonfire will be held in it’s usual spot on the junior high softball field.
Finally on Saturday, Oct. 15, the homecoming dance will be held from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. in the Fitzkee Center and Commons. Students are required to have their tickets purchased ahead of time, and need to present their student ID’s at the door.
Tickets can still be purchased the week of homecoming during lunch. Singles tickets cost $20 and doubles tickets cost $30.
