By Brody Patmore Sports Editor The senior high wrestling program has had bright spots in recent years. From 2017 graduate Dylan Gurreri reaching 100 wins in his final year to multiple wrestlers qualifying for a chance at the postseason last year. With a total of almost 40 junior high and senior high School athletes attending preseason workouts the future looks to be shining very bright for the program. Key individuals that have put in a lot of work in the off season and may have a big year this season are Stanley Dai, Cole Daugherty, Devyn Gurreri, and Branden Reichard.
The team is lead by a new head coach this season. Coach Michael Catullo hopes to watch his team succeed. Younger students who have been putting in work according to Catullo include Caleb Strayer, Ryan Fry, Kyle Daugherty, and Jack Conrad so keep an eye out for them as well. “I expect our wrestlers to constantly be improving themselves in the classroom and on the wrestling mats.” said Catullo. On January 16 the team has a home match against Central at 7:00 p.m. and cross town rivals Dallastown on January 18 which is also at home and 7:00 p.m. These are big matches for the team against nearby rivals so try to come out and support!
