Fantasy football is practically a religion to a lot of Americans. For many years now, people have been doing fantasy football. It’s become a part of our Sundays on a large scale. Fantasy Football is taking over.

Fantasy Football is where people all ages compete against friends, family, and random users to either win money or just bragging rights as they draft NFL players to make a team. A starting team consists of 1 quarterback, 2 running backs, 2 wide receivers, 1 flex (either 1 running back, 1 wide receiver, or 1 tight end) 1 tight end, 1 place kicker, 1 team defense/special teams and 6 bench players (any of your choice).

This is a phenomenon that is storming our country. There is now currently hundreds of blogs, many tv shows, and radio talk shows that are about fantasy football it has become a lifestyle! Fantasy Football is a industry that brings in 1.67 billion dollars in revenue. In the U.S there are 25.8 million users nationally. Many students and even staff participate here at the high school. Many find it fun and competitive.

“It’s a fun way to compete with your friends” says teacher Mr. Blackwell .“I’m very competitive so it makes my Sundays a lot more interesting” “that’s for sure”l.

Blackwell, who is 7-1 in his league and in 1st place says his target players are Julio Jones, Peyton Manning, and Demaryius Thomas and many more.

Other students such as freshman Elijah Workinger and Avery Foxwell say it’s the ultimate way to compete with your friends if you like football. “It gets frustrating but, I don’t wanna stop,” laughs Workinger “It’s so fun.”

“It makes a great conversation with your friends too” says Foxwell.

Fantasy Football is taking over and most likely won’t stop anytime soon. In fact predictions are that numbers will increase rapidly. Its safe to say this is the new trend.
