![]() By Austin Kelly Staff Writer Red Lion boys volleyball has a new coach this season. Coach Rick Torbert has taken over as head coach of the Red Lion High School boys varsity volleyball team. “I’m very excited to take over as head coach of the team,” Mr. Torbert said. Previously, Mr. Torbert had coached ten years of girls club volleyball at Yorktowne Volleyball Club. He was a volunteer at Red Lion for girls volleyball for four years. He even has a sand volleyball court in his front yard and hosts tournaments, clinics, leagues, and training in the summer. Coach Torbert believes his three captains, middle hitter Bennett Frey, outside hitter Dillon Hildebrand, and setter John Longnecker will contribute positive roles on the team this season. Sophomore Cole Brillhart will play a big role at outside hitter as well.
“Our experience together is a team strength,” senior Bennett Frey said. “We have all our returning players back but one, and we have great hitters this year.” “Between our entire starting lineup returning and Coach Torbert coming in, I don’t think we’ve had a better opportunity in recent years,” senior captain Dillon Hildebrand said. “We’ve got all the pieces we need, it’s just a matter of putting them in place.” “Let’s build a team that’s centered on trust, communication, discipline, and respect,” said Coach Rick Torbert. ”That’s a winning formula we can all be proud of.”
