News & Features Editor A divided nation. An outraged president. Thousands boycotting a 2 billion-dollar franchise. What could be the cause of such chaos? The National Football League. As many may know, players from football teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys, and several more have been ‘taking a knee’ during the playing of the National Anthem. Features and Marketing Editor In the United States there are two days each year where we take a day off from work or school and commemorate a figure that has had a huge affect on what we call America today. Those two holidays are Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Columbus Day. One of these holidays celebrates the legacy of a man who brought hope and healing to our country. By Derek Etter
Social Media & Marketing Editor It’s easy to try to be a better person, but how can we, as members of society, REALLY better ourselves and listen to both sides? In many ways, it’s easier than most think. With the advent of technology, we, as a society, have the opportunity to share more information than ever before. Neighbor’s opinions conflict with neighbors, friends opinions conflict with friends, and even family members find themselves arguing around the dinner table about who did what in the news. These types of disagreements are inevitable, as people who put themselves in positions of power open themselves up to criticism towards the choices they make. Not everyone is going to approve of their actions, nor of those who support them. By Carly Guise

I’m on what is at least my fourth venture, and the words have yet to come tumbling through my fingers to this keyboard. Back in June, which seems like decades ago, I went to what I can call at the very least a summer camp. I never went to summer camps as a kid, so that probably isn’t right, but until I figure out how to introduce its real name and purpose - it was a summer camp. But it was so much better than any summer camp I’ve ever heard of or seen in movies. The Leonid seniors give advice to underclassmen and reflect on how high school changed them as well as how they changed the high school.
