When sixteen year old Mara Dyer woke up in a hospital bed, the last thing she expected to hear was that her boyfriend and closest friends had died in a mysterious accident the night before. Even more strange, Mara was involved in the accident but miraculously had no injuries or memory of what happened.

Hoping to move on and start over, Mara convinces her family to leave everything behind and move to Florida. However, she soon realizes she can’t escape her problems when strange occurrences begin to plague her life.

Hallucinations of her boyfriend still being alive. Having visions of people dying and then it actually happening in real life shortly after. Nightmares that give her little pieces of memory from the accident. Are these occurrences supernatural clues to lead her into the truth of what happened that night of the accident, or is she just losing her mind from post traumatic stress disorder?

The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin is a fast paced thriller that keeps reader’s interest right from the first page and all the way until the end of the book. It keeps you guessing what will happen next which makes it a real page turner. It’s also able to develop the characters while still moving the plot forward, and making it quite interesting.

Overall, this book has something in it for everyone. It is very interesting and mysterious, while also having other elements people may enjoy such as romance and drama. There wasn’t much not to like about this book. Highly recommended!
