The field hockey team is 10-6 overall, 9-3 in Division I play, and hoping to finish the season strong to qualify for counties and districts. The team is meeting their coaches expectations and contending for the division.
If the ladies are lucky enough to find themselves a spot in the postseason don’t count them out. With a strong defense, and a midfield that controls the play nobody is taking them lightly.
According to head coach Carol Gillmen a highlight of the season to this point was going on the road to Southwestern and winning 2-1 on a rainy day. “They’re a good team and to go there and get a win was pretty big” said Gillmen.
The ladies turned things back around after a 5-0 loss to Central last Wednesday. They played home on Friday against Dallastown and won 2-1. Senior Megan McCarty scored the first goal and junior Kaiya Edwards scored the winning goal two minutes into overtime. They will finish out the regular season against New Oxford, and Susquehannock.
Keep an eye out for seniors Megan McCarty, and Jill Sleeth as well as sophomores Kennedy Bratton, and Coda Fisher to have an impact on those games. “She’s a smart defender who reads the play well” Gillmen said about McCarty
