The aroma of coffee grounds fills the air. It’s the perfect place to sit down and catch up with a friend over a warm, gooey, chocolate chip muffin. No - this isn’t your local Starbucks. This cafe can be found right through the doors of the library at Red Lion Area Senior High.
On Monday, May 7th, the Lion Grounds Cafe made its debut to the Red Lion body.
The Lion Grounds Cafe is a student run bistro located in the back doors at the library. It is open from 7:25 AM to 10:30 AM on Mondays for teachers only and on Fridays during all lunch shifts students may go to the cafe and purchase beverages and sit down.
The primary teachers behind the idea are Mrs. Ayers, Mr. Connor, Mrs. Stuth, and Mrs. Wagner. They say it is a great way for the life skills students to learn budgeting and business skills.
“The students work with purchasing goods and prepping food. They gain extensive experience in customer service from this,” said Mrs. Stuth.
Although the Lion Grounds Cafe came to a soft open on it’s first day, Mrs. Stuth says there are big plans for the future.
“We will eventually have a google document to set up deliveries of food throughout the day.”
The Lions Ground Cafe makes for a place for staff and students to come together over a cup of brewed coffee.
The Lion Grounds Cafe offers a variety of different beverages and food for staff and students. The students involved in the cafe learn how to budget and buy all the products needed for the bistro.
