By Rachel Lau Senior Editor Junior Brendan Kilgore was one of the two students chosen for the January student of the month. His life has revolved around music for quite sometime. He started participating in band in elementary school and then transitioned into marching band for the past three years at the high school, playing the baritone. Kilgore is also involved in the musical, and will obtain the lead role of Tommy in this year’s ‘Music Man’. “A lot of my friends are in musical and I was on stage crew last year and wanted to try out,” Kilgore said. “Life is worth the risk.” In his free time he likes to spend time with his family and friends. When he’s with his family, they all play guitar together at home or at certain events. His favorite vacation spot is South Carolina and his favorite food is tacos. When it comes down to his favorite subject in school, he likes any physical science class. After graduating, Brendan hopes to go to college and major in Business Management. By Molly Merson
News and Features Editor Junior Michelle Keeny was crowned student of the month for January. Her exceptional academic performance and involvement in activities outside of school earned her this role. In her free time, Keeny volunteers at a local shoe bank. It takes place at Pleasant view church. The goal of the shoe bank is to give shoes to children who can’t afford them. In addition to hobbies, Keeny likes to travel in her free time. She has been to Honduras, California, Florida, Budapest, and Austria. She went to Honduras once for a mission trip. “It was a pretty fun experience,” Keeny said. She has obtained an honor roll status for the past two years by studying and keeping up with homework. Her favorite subject in school is English. “I’ve always been good at it,” Keeny said, “so I think it’s always been a favorite of mine.” Although being undecided on her future college, Keeny hopes to go to college in California. “I’d like to go to college in California because I like the warm weather,” Keeny said. “I want to major in Human Resources management.” Keeny likes dedicating her spare time to helping others, which leads to her involvement in extracurricular activities. Her passion for helping others has led to her interest in Human Resources.
