When the idea of a first date comes to mind, most people picture a wonderfully cooked candle light dinner, your date dressed in a nice shirt and tie, and maybe even a bouquet of roses. However, let’s face it; that usually doesn’t happen, at least not in high school that is.
So what is the best first date without reaching past the limits of reality?
A first date can put someone under enough pressure to start with, especially if you don’t know the person that well. By doing something that doesn’t go past your comfort zone, it will allow you to enjoy yourself and get to know the person.
“Me being a country girl, I’d go to The Buck. Or sit by the river, something casual,” sophomore Jordan Jacobs said. “You know, not too much romance, but where it’s still kind of cute.”
If casual is more your thing, maybe baking cookies at your house and then watching a movie together on the couch would be an ideal date. Or doing the classic ice cream date after school and going for a walk.
On the contrary, junior Kristen Monti said, “The perfect first date? Getting dressed up and going to dinner and movies. Like, the whole nine yards. Complete romance.”

When it comes to a first date, most girls think that guys do not care. However, a first date for a guy can be a stressful too.
While guys tend to have a drastically different viewpoint on first dates than girls, one similarity is the desire to get a feel for the person before you try and continue the relationship.
“Our very first date, I told Mrs. Vasellas that I lost her key, and to return it I told her to meet me at a restaurant,” said history teacher Mr. Vasellas.
A first date is often-times awkward. A way to avoid the awkward moments on a first date is to go on a nice dinner at a restaurant so that the two of you can have time to talk to one another.
Going somewhere like the movies is not a good idea, as you would not be able to talk and get to know each other.
Another good first date idea is to go out somewhere fun like an amusement park, carnival, or a concert. It is something that allows both of you to enjoy yourself while at the same time relieving some of that awkwardness of that first date.
Senior Joey Schmidt said, “A perfect first: I don’t know. I guess it’s one where [we] really jive together.”
